The decision to resign was made mainly in light of the unprecedented tensions in the West Bank and Jerusalem and the war, massacres and starvation in the Gaza Strip.

On October 7 last year, the Palestinian independence organization Hamas attacked Israel. Authorities said that 1,200 Israelis were killed. In protest of this attack, the Israeli army has been attacking Gaza, which is besieged by Palestine, since that day. More than 29,000 Palestinians have been killed so far in this attack that has been going on for almost five months. And about 70 thousand were injured.
